Let's get into it. Hello and welcome to the introductory episode of application modernization. My name is Jordan Alfred and I'm one of the producers of the show. We're here today with Ross Beard, vice president of Shadowsoft. Ross, thank you so much for joining me. How's it going today? Hey, Jonas, it's going really well. Thanks for having me. Yes, we are so happy to have you here. So, to give everyone a bit more context, today we'll be talking about what you, the listener, can expect to hear from the podcast. But before we jump into that, Ross tell us a little bit about yourself and the work that you're doing at shadows offt yes, so shut usoft is a boutique it consulting firm, and what we really focus on...

...is helping our customers modernize their infrastructure and the applications. My role at Shautusoft is to really seek to understand our customers needs and then help them overcome their challenges along the way, whilst bringing together all of our experts and consultants on our side. Awesome. So why did the team at shadows off decide to start this podcast? Yes, we've been working with a with many high growth software companies as over the last two, three four years, and what we found is there's a very similar story that these companies follow. They are looking to grow and they're growing from ten customers to a hundred customers to a thousand customers, and there are some common challenges that they run into along their growth journey. So we really wanted to start this podcast we could tell their stories,...

...talk about their challenges and talk about their successes so that other high growth software companies can learn something from people that have done it in the past. Yeah, so what are some of the common challenges that you might have seen that sparked you guys to even want to, you know, discuss some of their stories here? So there are really three key challenges that a lot of high growth software companies run into. Firstly, they need to scale their applications to meet customer demands. What I mean by that is that you know, you might have an infrastructure architected in a way that supports ten customers today, but as you grow to a hundred customers or a thousand customers, decisions need to be made to enable that growth. So we really specialize in helping our customers navigate those decisions and embrace new technologies like containers, cubinators in the cloud to enable the applications to scale. Secondly, these growing software companies need to be quick, they need to move fast and they need speed to market.

So what I mean by that is they have their customers asking them for new features and improvements and they need to release those new features out to the market quickly to combat competitors. So we work with them to embrace new processes and embrace new technologies to speed up software deliveries so they can get their features out to the market quicker. And lastly, it's about cost saving. So as customers grow from ten to a hundred, two to a thousand, you know costs add up. The cloud consumption model, you know it can get expensive. So we work with our customers to identify ways to architect their environments to identify cost savings. We also help them find ways to avoid expensive licensing costs, really with the intent to drive down costs so they can generate additional margin as they bring on new customers and loving it. I love it. So...

...what can listeners expect to hear when they're listening to each episode? Just to kind of reiterate that, yes, you're going to hear a real story from a high growth software company. So we're really try and peel back the onion to understand how they've grown over the years and and really some of the specific challenges that they ran into as they were modernizing and specifically modernizing their application and infrastructure. Really, my goal here is to give you some key ideas that you can walk away with and implement yourself so that you can follow in the footsteps of other successful high growth software companies.
